The Different Types of Roulette Payouts

Roulette is a game of chance in which players place bets on numbers or groups of numbers. The croupier spins a wheel with 36 numbers and (on American tables) a 0 and 00. A small ball then rolls around the wheel until it stops on a number.

Outside bets cover categories of numbers, such as red or black, odd or even, and dozens (1-18 and 19-36). These bet types have lower odds of winning but higher payouts if they do win.

Payouts

Depending on the type of bet you make, different payouts are available. These payouts are calculated based on the expected outcome of your bets and can greatly increase your winning chances. These include: The Line Bet: Also known as sixain in French, this bet is similar to a street bet, however it covers two rows of three consecutive numbers. It pays 5-1. The Split Bet: A Split bet, also known as a cheval in French, requires your chip(s) to straddle the line between two numbers on the layout. It pays 17-1.

Variations

Roulette comes in many variations, and each offers a different gaming experience. Some have additional betting options and rules, while others offer a new spin on the gameplay. For example, Key Bet Roulette ventures off the beaten path by adding novel features that expand betting options and payouts. The game also offers la partage, which returns half of a wager on even money bets that lose to the house when the ball hits 0.

Choosing the right roulette variant depends on your skill level and experience. If you’re a beginner, it’s best to stick with European roulette, which has a friendly house edge.
