A popular game of chance, roullete involves a spinning wheel with numbers from 1 to 36 and one or two zeros. A small ball is then spun into a compartment on the wheel that corresponds to your bet.
Players place chips on the table to indicate their bets, which can be made until the croupier announces “no more bets”. There are several different types of bets, each offering a different payout.
Origins
The history of roulette is an intriguing tale of chance, prediction and luck. While the exact origins of the game are unknown, it is widely believed that French mathematician and physicist Blaise Pascal inadvertently invented the game in 1655 during his pursuit to create a perpetual motion machine. He stumbled upon the idea while staying at the Port-Royal-des-Champs monastery in what is now France.
Other theories of the game’s origin point to ancient China, where a variation of the game was played with 37 animal figurines on a rotating table. Regardless of its origins, the game eventually grew into the roulette we know and love today through various cultural influences and trade routes. Despite its diverse heritage, the game’s fundamental rules remain unchanged throughout time.
